Catching Up

The problem I always had with being a writer is not the writing itself, but the sitting down part. The part where you decide your thoughts are clear enough to sit down and start writing. As my thoughts never seem to be clear enough for my liking, I never sit down to write. I guess that makes me a terrible blogger because blogs are generally works in progress, a stream of incomplete thoughts, one post never complete and final, but relying on the next to continue the narrative.

So once again I sit down with no happy ending to deliver, just another update on the unfolding saga. I'm now the owner of a full UK driving license, although I haven't driven since I took the test. Mum's car is automatic, and I don't see the point in paying to get onto her insurance for the few weeks I have left in this country. Roger should be coming over to see his mother in a week or so, and after that I hope to go out to stay with him in Holland, and then leave for St Vincent with him when he goes. Hopefully, I can help with some work he needs to finish off before he leaves.

In the meantime I've been twiddling my thumbs, so to speak, with not much to do but play games, read books and watch movies I've downloaded. My main PC is out of action - the memory modules seem to have failed again, and there's a short supply of these special Corsair modules that come in twinned pairs, so I'm still waiting to hear from Armari. In the meantime, I've been messing around with my PSP, installing custom firmware so that I can play games I download from Demonoid. I've been reading Charles Stross, and re-reading one of Iain M Banks 'Culture' novels. I've watched some good films - 'Michael Clayton', 'Stardust', 'Code 46', 'Harsh Times', 'Planet Terror', '3.10 to Yuma', and 'You Kill Me'. All good time-wasting stuff.

I'm off to London today to stay with Nick, and tomorrow I hope to meet up with Mandi and Angel, who is on her half-term break at the moment. Hopefully I can also meet up with the old NewsNowers - Mark, Dave and Eddy - for a meal. Haven't seen most of them for almost a year now. Dave and Ed are pretty quiet on facebook so I have a lot to catch up on, and Mark has to tell me all about his trip with the UK Dragon Boat racing team.
