Oh, Canada

Well, so much to update on. Quick run-down: first week spent at Heather's cottage at McKellar Lake, with Kurt, Gaelene and baby Connor; back to Toronto on Monday, to Toronto Zoo on Tuesday with Mary-Jane, Sarah and Abigail; lazy day on Wednesday, mostly spent playing Yu-Gi-Oh! on Angel's GBA; Canada's Wonderland on Thursday with Joy, Tim, Shawna, Neil and Kent; rest day on Friday; Marineland and Niagara Falls on Saturday with Heather and Kent.

The cottage was lovely as always, although the weather got worse as the week progressed, so it was less favourable for fishing. Angel had plenty of fun swimming, paddling around in the tube, and fishing. Baby Connor is very sweet, but not very interactive yet - mostly eating and sleeping at this stage. Heather made it up after work on Thursday, and Shawna and Neil came up on Saturday, so the weekend was a full house and great fun.

We were meant to be going up to Elgin on the weekend to stay with Arthur and his family, but decided to stay at the cottage so we could see Shawna and Neil, as they had a busy schedule and we weren't sure we'd see them again. Instead, Mary Jane drove down with Sarah and Abbey on Monday, and Angel and Abbey started a production line of jewelry from a kit that Angel had bought at the Dollarama in Parry Sound. We went to the Zoo on Tuesday, where half the stuff was closed, but we had fun anyway. The highlight for me was the orangutans, who could have been any average family stuck inside a cage with orange hairsuits on.

Midge and the girls had to get back on Wednesday, so we had a rest day as we had Wonderland planned for Thursday. Canada's Wonderland is a Paramount-owned theme park with more rides than I can remember Disney ever having; there must have been 10 rollercoasters and another 10 other rides, plus a water park and a kid's area. Tim was up for all the rides, and after a shaky start, Angel followed him, and by the end of the day was a self-proclaimed expert.

Friday was a another rest day, and yesterday we went south to Niagara Falls and nearby Marineland, where we checked out all the wildlife before Angel had to go on all the rides. After doing Minebuster at Wonderland (the world's longest wooden coaster) she of course had to go on Dragon Mountain (world's longest steel coaster). The belugas were amazing, such serene-looking creatures and amazingly playful and quick for their size.

Today's been another rest day, although I've been trying to get all Angel's possessions in one place so we don't leave anything behind. As she's bought so much stuff, we may need to buy another bag to put it all in.
